about us

Situated on the north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra, the Durrung tea plantation is one of the oldest tea estates in Assam. It was established in 1875 in the Darrang district of Assam. With a history of over 140 years, Durrung has always been known to produce premium quality black tea.

The garden is located in the 2nd largest district of Assam - Sonitpur, with its headquarters in Tezpur. Tezpur is the IV Corp HQ of the Indian Army, has the Eastern Air Commander Base and is a utilitarian stopover for travellers to Arunachal Pradesh. The nearest station and airport to the garden is Rangapara railway station and Tezpur airport respectively.

The Kaziranga and Orang wildlife sanctuaries, famous for the single-horned rhinos, are also in close vicinity of the garden.

We manufacture CTC and Orthodox Tea. Our teas are available in bulk, packets and tea bags. The teas are sold at the auctions and directly to global manufacturers as well. You can also find your DURRUNGTM tea at your favourite retail store and online on Amazon and Snapdeal.

Currently nearly 400 hectares of the tea garden is being used for tea cultivation. The tea estate has a population of 4000 with a work force of 1000. It provides housing facility for the estate workers and their families, along with a hospital and a school. The management is also deeply involved in the socioeconomic development and welfare of the society adjacent to the garden.

The garden is a TRUSTEA certified garden and we maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

Come experience the freshness of the gardens of Assam with DURRUNGTM tea.
